Meet the Chefs at The JLT CHEF'S SHOWCASE 2024
The JLT Chef's Showcase is being held on April 25th in Toronto. Join us for an evening of culinary delight, featuring twelve exceptional chefs, with tantalizing tasting tables. From Grilled Heirloom Carrot Salad, to Rice Vermicelli with Crab Curry Sauce, to Mini Cupcakes with Buttercream Flowers, get ready to delight your taste buds.
Funds raised at the event will support students in the George Brown Foundation’s ACET Program via the JLT Culinary Scholarship, along with the League's other community work that focuses on youth and self-esteem.

Chef Jennifer Brooker Ocean Eyes Catering
Chef Jennifer Brooker has been in the hospitality business for over a decade. This was a second career for her as she literally started as a dishwasher and now is the Executive Chef at Silver Lakes Golf and Country Club. Two years ago, she also started her own catering business as a private chef, Ocean Eyes Catering, giving her clients the experience of a private chef in their own home!

Chefs Brian Cheng & Alanna Fleischer The Edible Story
Both graduates of George Brown College, Alanna and Brian created The Edible Story in 2014. Their studio kitchen houses all the prep work, cooking classes and private events. The concept is built around the endless possibilities of throwing an event in an elegant but comfortable venue. To the present day, The Edible Story has catered to many clients throughout the GTA and continues to grow, expanding into weddings and large functions of 500+ people.

Shirley Lum Chocolate Sommelier
Shirley curates full-sensory chocolate tasting experiences as @SChocolateMagic sharing her Certified Level 2 @ChocolateTasters expertise and insights from judging the Canadian, the Americas and World’s Final competitions for the International Chocolate Awards. She is also a graduate of @GBCollege ‘s Certified Professional Chocolatier program and has a lifelong passion for food and chocolate.

Chef Maggie Frith The Magpie Cakery
Maggie was a Semi-Finalist on Season 4 of the Great Canadian Baking Show on CBC where she showcased her range of baking skills, from signature cookies, tarts and brioche, to show-stopping strudel, meringues and buttercream flower cakes. She is the owner of The Magpie Cakery Baking Studio in Leslieville, Toronto, where she hosts fun-filled and educational baking and decorating workshops, private events and corporate team-building events.

Rosa and Vito Marinuzzi‘s culinary expertise and passion for authentic southern Italian cuisine have left an indelible mark on the vibrant food scene of Toronto. With a rich family heritage rooted in the culinary traditions of southern Italy, they have dedicated their lives to sharing their love for food with the world. Chefs Christine Ostiguy & Carly Chiasson Yorkshire Pudding Catering
Christine Ostiguy (Owner, Executive Chef) & Carly Chiasson (Sous Chef), both graduates of George Brown Culinary School, love delivering memorable experiences at all of their events. They enjoy all of the gatherings that happen around food, and the traditions surrounding mealtimes. From casual backyard BBQs to elegant multi coursed galas, Christine and Carly are truly passionate about all types of events!

Chef Michele Pollack Luxe Appliance Studio
Chef Michele Pollack has been working in the food service industry for over 35 years, from frying chicken as a teenager to running her own successful catering business, Mick’s Catering She has also worked as a culinary instructor, teaching corporate and private cooking classes at the St. Lawrence Market. Currently, she is the corporate chef at Luxe Appliance Studio, doing cooking demonstrations for the Bosch, Thermador and Gaggenau brands.

Chef Gurth Pretty Lakeview Cheese Galore
Chef Gurth is a mouse at heart. He LOVES cheese! A graduate of George Brown’s Culinary School, he has authored several food guides and cookbooks and judged cheese at The Canadian Cheese Grand Prix, Canadian Cheese Awards & the World Championship Cheese Competition. In 2021, he opened his south Mississauga shoppe, Lakeview Cheese Galore. His contacts within the Canadian cheese industry make it possible for his assortment to be mostly Canadian artisanal cheese, with a few classic European products.

Chef Nuit Regular PAI & Kiin
Chef Nuit Regular is the Executive Chef and Co-Owner of PAI, Kiin, By Chef Nuit, and Sukhothai, as well as the Executive Chef of Selva. Chef Nuit has transformed the Thai food scene in Toronto through the distinct flavours of Northern Thai cuisine and hospitality. It all began when Chef Nuit opened the humble Curry Shack in the small town of Pai, in Northern Thailand. She made the decision to leave her career as a nurse so that she could share her passion and life experiences through family recipes, street market dishes, and Royal Thai cuisine in Canada.

Chef Emily Richards Canadian Living Cooks
Emily Richards is a professional home economist, freelance food writer, chef and cookbook author who also enjoys culinary instruction for home cooks who want to learn more and have fun in the kitchen. She is the author and co-author of 11 cookbooks which include topics from Italian cuisine, weeknight dinners, everyday celebrations, glycemic index diets, 5 ingredient cooking and comfort foods. Chef Vanessa Yeung Aphrodite Cooks
As a graduate of the Stratford Chefs School, Vanessa honed her skills with an apprenticeship at fine dining restaurant Scaramouche. After a brief stint in food manufacturing Vanessa was the private chef to former NHL goaltender Ed Belfour. Vanessa then moved on to starting her own catering company and cooking school called Aphrodite Cooks. Located in the Etobicoke, west end of Toronto, Aphrodite Cooks is housed in a 4000 sq foot unit, that features two kitchens. One for cooking classes and events, the other for catering and food production.
