Oscars 2018: The best looks from the red carpet

Viola Davis in Michael Kors

Viola Davis was in attendance to present the best actor in a supporting role award. The 52-year-old actress looked flawless, fit and fabulous in a body-conscious hot pink sequinned dress by Michael Kors. She accompanied it with playful diamond hoop earrings and sleek and full hair. Slay!

Greta Gerwig in Rodarte

Greta Gerwig, who is nominated for best director and best original screenplay for her film Lady Bird, wore a stunning Rodarte dress that brought a bit of sunshine to the red carpet. The subtle detailing on the dress adds just the right amount of shine and we're especially loving Gerwig's retro wavy hairstyle and reddish lip. 

Gal Gadot in Givenchy

Wonder Woman, a.k.a. Gal Gadot, wore a super sparkly, flapper-inspired dress by Givenchy. The Oscar presenter also added a stunning Tiffany & Co. necklace and a deep red lip to complete her look. The takeaway here? Metallic, fringe and lots of shine are trends that are going nowhere.

Margot Robbie in Chanel

Margot Robbie, who is nominated for her role in I, Tonya, opted for a custom Chanel gown, the dress was actually made by Karl Lagerfeld himself. Robbie is the new face of Chanel so we expected her to be donning something from the French brand. Her stylist, Kate Young, decided to style the dress with minimal jewels to let the focus be on the dramatic neckline of the dress. We loved how the dress was punctuated with her modern lob hairstyle and pretty makeup. 

Meryl Streep in Christian Dior

Meryl Streep is nominated for best actress for her role in The Post. Streep, who is the most-nominated actor (check out some of her other great red carpet looks here) wore a red dress by Christian Dior. It's a brighter colour than we're used to seeing from this red carpet pro, but we have to say we love it. Streep accessorized with Stuart Weitzman heels, a Christian Louboutin clutch, Fred Leighton jewellery and Oliver Peoples x Alain Mikli glasses

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior

The Oscar-winning actress walked the red carpet in a brilliant metallic gown from Dior, which was no surprise because the 27-year-old actress has been the face of the brand for years. Her jewellery from Niwaka was subtle, as was her makeup but we loved was her wavy hair juxtaposed with the liquid metal dress. Sexy, cool and modern. 

Emma Stone in Louis Vuitton

We gotta give it up for Emma Stone for rocking pants on the Oscar red carpet. The 29-year-old actress won for best actress last year for La La Land, so she was in attendance to present an award at this year's Oscars. She hit the red carpet wearing head-to-toe Louis Vuitton, and we just adored the colour blocking of burgundy, pink, black and emerald green.

Gina Rodriguez in Zuhair Murad Couture

The Jane The Virgin actress, Gina Rodriguez, stole the spotlight on the red carpet with this dramatic gown from Zuhair Murad. The plunging neckline, extra (in a good way) embellishment and beautiful soft colour against her skin tone was everything. We also loved it paired with her sleek ponytail and glowy makeup. Well played. 

Helen Mirren in Reem Acra

Helen Mirren proves that simple can be stunning at any age. The 72-year-old wore a long-sleeve dress by Reem Acra in a gorgeous shade of blue—it perfectly complements her hair and eyes. The presenter added a diamond necklace for a touch of glam. 

Laura Dern in Calvin Klein

Laura Dern indulged in the trend of the night—a white dress—thanks to Calvin Klein. Her side-swept hair and drop earrings complete the simple look, and her asymmetrical shoulder detailing is right on trend for spring.
