Try out Soriano’s cool recipe for Dangly Chevron Earrings:
What you will need:
16 bronze-coloured bobby pins, roughly 1¼ inches in length
2 head pins
1 bottle of Essie nail polish in Fiesta (or similar hue)
2 small crimp beads
2 hanging earring wire blanks in a bronze finish
Painter’s tape
Parchment paper or plastic wrap
Round-nose and flat-nose pliers
Wire snips
1. Arrange eight bobby pins with the ridges all facing in the same direction. Thread the bobby pins onto a head pin; repeat with the second set of bobby pins and head pin.
2. Create a chevron pattern by taping off areas that will not be painted. Apply a thin coat of nail polish, being careful not to let any polish seep under the tape. Repeat with the second earring. Apply additional thin coats as necessary to get the desired hue. Let dry for 2 hours, then slowly remove the tape from the bottom. Put some nail polish on a piece of parchment paper or plastic wrap and, holding the head pin, dip the bottom edges of the bobby pins into the polish. Let dry for two hours and remove the remaining tape.
3. Use round-nose pliers to bend the head pin on each side of the bobby pins to create a triangle shape. Repeat with the second earring. Use wire snips to remove the pinhead.
4. Thread the head pin through the earring blank hole. Fold one side of the head pin slightly over the other, then slide a crimp bead over the ends of the head pin where they overlap, and then, using flat-nose pliers, flatten the crimp bead to hold the components in place.
The end result is a simple design that will have everyone that sees it oohing and aahing.
