New perfumes just in time for spring
Some of your favourite fragrance brands are releasing new perfumes—just in time for spring and Mother's Day gifts!
Whether you're looking to update your own perfume collection this season, or want to pick up a new fragrance for your Mom, just in time for Mother's Day, we've got the best bets. From the luxurious classics (hello, Guerlain) to our favourite affordable perfume brand (looking at you, Elizabeth Arden) we've got something for every taste and budget.
Next gen
Dior Poison Girl, 100 mL, $135, sephora.ca.
Chances are you know someone who loved Dior Poison, the 1980s powerhouse scent. Well, for 2017, the brand has rethought the eau and introduced a new take on the perfume: Dior Poison Girl. Don’t be fooled by the juvenile name, this scent (full of lemon, bitter orange, rose, orange blossom, heliotrope, almond, vanilla and sandalwood) is a great scent for women who loved the original the first time around.
Bonjour!
Guerlain Mon Guerlain, 100 mL, $168, thebay.com.
The inspired combination of vanilla and lavender is the heart of this new scent from Guerlain (fronted by actor and activist, Angelina Jolie). It’s classic and feminine and will transport you to France—so naturally we love it.
The cult of Kenzo
Kenzo Flower by Kenzo Eau de Lumiere, 100 mL, $119, thebay.com.
Kenzo’s cult following will love this update to the Flower by Kenzo line of perfumes. Citrus top notes mingle with a floral heart and a musky and slightly powdery base. The perfect mix of classic and modern, but the iconic French fashion house of course.
Big spender
Dolce & Gabbana Velvet Cypress, 50 mL, $266, dolcegabbana.com.
Sweet tooth
Givenchy Live Irresistible Delicieuse, 100 mL, $125, thebay.com.
This sweet and fruity scent is perfect for spring. Notes of cherry, rose, orange blossom, caramel and vanilla combine for a scent that will satisfy any sweet tooth.
New and exciting
L’Occitane En Provence Terre de Lumiere, 90 mL, $105, loccitane.com.
The first aromatic gourmand from the French brand (meaning the combination of sweet notes with more herb-inspired ingredients) is a winner. Lavender and honey lead, while pink pepper, bergamot, almond and musk round out the scent. Perfect for people who aren’t sure what they want—but they want it to be good.
Tea time
Elizabeth Arden White Tea, 50 mL, $45, beautyexpert.com.
Light, but comforting, this perfume is a combination of sea water, mandarin, sage and ferns mixed with white tea, woods iris and tonka bean. A light, barely-there scent that still happens to be memorable.
