Easy Easter nail art: A pastel French manicure
You’ve thought about the egg hunt, the
Tsoureki and the juicy Easter ham, but a bit of easy nail art might be just the thing to get you into the spirit for the upcoming holiday. Follow our step-by-step guide for creating a pastel French manicure to add a little colour to your fingertips. Trust us: It’ll keep you smiling for a week.
The new French manicure
Traditionally a sheer pink base and white tip, the classic French manicure can seem a little dull—especially when spring is around the corner. Liven up the look with a different pastel hue on each finger and a metallic tip.
Nail polish kit
Use your favourite pastels and a single metallic to create this playful mani.
We chose, clockwise from top left: Essie nail polish in Lilacism, $10, essie.ca. OPI Nail Lacquer in Suzi Shops & Island Hops, $11, opi.com. Essie nail polish in Penny Talk, $10, essie.ca. La Couleur Couture Nail Colour in 1956, $13, laccbeauty.com. Trind Caring Color Nail Lacquer in Robin Egg Blue (CC183), $13, nailpolishcanada.com. La Couleur Couture Nail Colour in 1976, $13, laccbeauty.com.
Step 1: Polish each nail
After shaping your nails and applying a base coat, brush two coats of pastel polish on each nail. Use a single colour for the pinkies, another hue for the ring fingers and so on.
Step 2: Apply one tip guide
After about an hour, when your nails have dried thoroughly, put a French manicure guide sticker on a single nail. We used Essence Cosmetics French Manicure Tip Guides, $2, shoppersdrugmart.ca.
Step 3: Paint the tip of the nail
Brush the tip of your stickered nail with metallic polish. Remove the sticker gently while the polish is still wet.
Move to the next nail and apply the sticker and polish. Remove. Repeat for each nail.
Step 4: Apply top coat
Seal your nail art with clear, shiny top coat.
Wasn't that easy? And you'll be fielding compliments left, right and centre.
