If you have the right tools and the know-how, you can create almost any eyebrow shape. Benefit Cosmetics's Jared Bailey and Maddox Lu reveal their tips and tricks for mastering the most iconic eyebrow looks.

The new neutral (a la Rooney Mara)

"In Asian culture, women favour the straight eyebrow, so there's less of an arch," says Maddox Lu, regional education manager. "It's not expressionless, but it's more neutral." Rather than reshaping your eyebrows to get this effect, fake it. "Apply product below the arch and slightly above the brow," advises Jared Bailey, global brow expert. "It will create the illusion of a straighter brow, without manipulating the shape." He recommends using brow gel; it will sculpt and define your brows and leave a matte finish.

The bold and beautiful (like Cara Delevingne)

"This brow shape is very feline and sexy," says Lu, "and it's probably the most sought-after, thanks to Kim Kardashian West and Cara Delevingne." These brows are known for their colour gradation: "They're lighter at the beginning, then more dense toward the middle of the arch and the end," says Bailey. Real talk: These high-maintenance brows take a slew of products to achieve. Lu recommends creating a clean baseline so you have a fresh lift at the arch Then, fill in the brow with a pencil, a powder or a wax, always applying in the direction of hair growth and tapering off at the end. Finally, use a highlighting product above and below the brows. "The shape will become more defined and crisp," he says.

The rounded arch (like by Jada Pinkett Smith)

Curved brows give the ultimate lift to your face; they have a natural arch that's free of harsh angles. If this isn't your natural shape, you'll need to do some serious grooming. Lu suggests using brow mascara or clear setting gel to help guide hairs into a round orientation. An eyebrow pencil and a brow brush can help fake certain areas," he says. "You can also brush the hairs up at the start of the brow and down at the tail." Focus on the top edge of each brow to create more lift, then add definition by elongating the tails to bring them in line with the tops of your ears.
