Review: The new Blitz Facial Bar
Plagued with a host of skin problems—blemishes, oily and a porous complexion—I’m constantly on the lookout for new skin-care treatments and innovations. So when I heard there was a new express facial bar in town, I jumped at the chance to try it out.
Blitz Facial Bar, a spinoff of the popular
Body Blitz Spa, opened its doors on Queen Street West on June 12. The first of its kind in Toronto, busy women and men now have the chance to snag a quickie facial that promises not to cut any corners.
Upon my arrival, I followed the esthetician into an open space with plush chairs arranged in rows. The set-up felt like a nail salon, but without the chatter. Between the soothing background music and comfortable headrest, I quickly forgot I was in a room with a dozen other people. With an appointment booked before a day at the office, I indulged in half an hour of relaxation while skilled hands cleansed, exfoliated, masked, toned, massaged and hydrated my face. I opted for the
Blitz + Glow treatment, which is one of the three 30-minute facials on the menu. Equipped with services ranging from extraction to microdermabrasion, Blitz seems to have all things facial covered.
If being in and out of the salon in under an hour isn’t good enough, the cost of express upkeep doesn’t put a hefty dent in your bank account. With prices ranging from $48 to $78, monthly visits can be affordable. However, if you are looking for the full Blitz experience, a 60-minute treatment is offered for $118. My verdict? I figured I would have to make a mad dash to the washroom for a speedy makeup application before heading to work, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that my face showed no signs of the typical post-facial symptoms. My skin was clear of red blotches and it had a dewy glow thanks to an application of tinted SPF lotion. With a great price point and a short time commitment, I would definitely recommend the Blitz + Glow treatment.
