Review: Caryl Baker Visage HD Brow service
My forehead rarely sees the light of day. A running joke with friends is that I came out of the womb with bangs—they’ve just always been there. The only time my eyebrows are exposed for public consumption is when I secure my bangs behind a headband at the gym—or when I go for a run. In these sweat-inducing scenarios I’m without makeup, of course, which leads to revealing my pigment-free eyelashes and eyebrows. [caption id="attachment_16123" align="aligncenter" width="593"]
Me as a toddler, fringe for life proof.[/caption] My borderline albino-ness is something I’ve grown use. I’ve always relied on my fringe as a security blanked of sorts for disguising my eyebrow, and mascara to prove the existence of my eyelashes. Last week, while attending a Caryl Baker Visage event—the Canadian beauty concept store/spa that specializes in everything from the neck up—something changed. I tired their signature
HD Brow service, which retails for $30. It included brow shaping, my esthetician (Nina) used wax, to create a style that would “enhance my features.” Post wax, my “Face Expert” convinced me to try tinting my eyebrows, which proved to be a total game changer. She used the lightest colour on my barley there brows and boy did they pop! To my surprise, my eyebrows were pretty gosh darn thick. [caption id="attachment_16124" align="aligncenter" width="600"]
Before and after, no makeup in both photos.[/caption] After she saw how pleased I was with the results she suggested I try tinting my eyelashes, too. I did. Nina applied a dark navy dye to help amp up the colour of my blue eyes. Although she did warn me that clients sometimes experience irritation, especially when wearing contacts, like I was, I didn’t have any issues with the lash tinting. Plus, my eyes really did look more blue, not to mention having definition sans mascara. It’s been over a week since my service and my colour, on both my lashes and my eyebrows, hasn’t faded. The brow tint lasts for six weeks and the lashes for a little less. For the first time in my life I'm actually considering growing out my fringe. Maybe.
