NYFW 2015 backstage beauty: Graphic liner spotted at DKNY and Yigal Azrouel

Liner looks are no stranger to fashion week(s). Over the last few seasons we've seen an influx of eyeliner statements, sometimes in brilliant colours, thick lines and often it's found flicked out at the ends. On day four of New York Fashion Week, two innovative ways to wear the liner took shape. YigalAzrouel At the Yigal Azrouel show, makeup artist Benjamin Puckey for Sephora said the direction Azrouel gave the beauty team was the Russian modernist art movement—which is also the driving force for his collection. "The clothes have architectural shapes and graphic lines," says Puckey. He set out to create a beauty look that would tell the same story and complement the collection. "We decided to focus on an eye look that has some elements that go back to the Russian modernist movement, like straight lines and a half circles." Using a gel liner, Puckey used Tarte Clay Pot Waterproof Liner and a thin brush to paint on this avant-garde look. For any kind of extravagant liner style, make sure you use a formula that won't move. "It's very important to use a liner that won't budge." DKNY “The look is quite a look,” says Yadim, Maybelline New York’s Global Artist. Forget about pretty feline flicks and discreet line—for the DKNY show he created a young, fun and fearless look that only a confident woman could pull off. Using a combo of Maybelline New York Master Precise and Master Graphic, he created an exaggerated shape around the eyes, “it’s not meant to be perfect. It’s DIY, very sketched out and messy.”
