Celebrating
Earth Day yesterday was the perfect reminder that we need to "green" every aspect of our lives. I eat organic, whole foods so why wouldn't I treat my skin and body the same way? It's been a slow transition trying to find efficacious products and I'm still not completely natural and organic when it comes to my beauty routine but I'm getting there. I've compiled a few of my favourite eco-friendly beauty products and would love to hear your faves as well!
Thursday Plantation
Made with tea tree oil from Australia, my favourite products from this eco-friendly lineup include the Certified Organic Face Wash and the Blemish Stick. Tea tree oil is naturally antimicrobial so it's perfect for fighting adult acne without the harsh chemicals that can dry out aging skin. Other great products include their Tea Tree Oil Shampoo which apparently helps
fend off lice for all those concerned parents out there! Find more info
here.
Consonant Skincare I know that I go on and on about this brand but I truly enjoy all of their products. Plus, the ingredient list is actually legible so you know exactly what you're putting on your skin. Their Organic Body Wash in Unscented is an all-time fave. With no synthetic foaming agents, it's made with lots of delicious oils and extracts to nourish your skin. I'm also obsessed with their HydrExtreme serum which is a serious skinsaver in the winter. Find more info and order online on their
site.
Weleda The Arnica Massage Oil from
Weleda is a staple. The benefits of arnica for sore muscles, aches, sprains and bruises has been proven and this oil also does double duty as a moisturizer for me post-shower. Skin Food, a serious moisturizing cream with sunflower oil, is also a big seller for the brand and makeup artists love it to prep model's skin.
Green Beaver This eco-friendly
Canadian company has been working hard to up the ante of their sunscreens and natural health products. I definitely recommend their sunscreens for both adults and kids. Though they can be a bit greasy, the ingredients are natural, organic and safe to use on all ages. Their lip balms and gluten-free products are also great.
Eminence An organic skincare company from Hungary,
Eminence has a great selection of moisturizers and anti-agers that work for everyone. Gluten-free options abound and the brand has a cult celebrity following. Some other favourite brands include
The Honest Company,
Josie Maran,
Aveda (their Rosemary Mint Hand and Body Wash is my fave!),
Tata Harper, and
Bite Beauty. Which eco-friendly favourites would you recommend?
