Our Canada: Didsbury, Alta.
Nestled among farm fields,
Didsbury, Alta., is located less than an hour from downtown Calgary and a little less than
two hours from Banff. There are so many wonderful things to see and do right here in town, however, you won’t want to leave anytime soon.
Events for every season
Next to Memorial Park is our award-winning wetlands area, the site of fantastic summer events, including music festivals, rock concerts, Canada Day celebrations and softball tournaments.

There are lots of events year-round, too. In the spring, we've got the Show & Shine car show and the renowned Art, Travel and Trade Show, and in the fall there's an outstanding arts festival that includes local artists and artisans (and even Vikings!). Winter sees us hosting curling bonspiels and nearly any time of year you can spot wildlife roaming around town. This winter, we were home to a mother moose and her twins.

What to see and do
Didsbury also boasts a wonderful museum, an aquatic centre, an ice rink, a golf course, a campground and an historic downtown core with many unique boutique-style businesses on 20th Street (the locals call it Main Street). Plus, there are several good places for casual dining—Chinese food and pizza are favourite foods around here.
The people matter most
But what I love most about Didsbury is our old-fashioned, small-town culture with friendly, helpful and generous people. We rally around each other when help is needed, from fundraising to help a family whose little girl had cancer to raising money to upgrade our heli-pad so we can have STARS Air Ambulance land at our hospital. Didsbury businesses make many generous donations to local causes and community members give their time freely to the volunteer fire department, hospital, long-term care centres and they often sit on committees and boards.
I love Didsbury so much, I became a town counsellor!
