Woman ties newborn baby to wedding dress
Now there's a headline I never thought I'd ever write. But you read it correctly. One Tennessee woman is coming under fire (and might I say, rightfully so), for
fastening her one-month-old baby to the train of her wedding dress. What? The bride, Shona Carter-Brooks, has come under fire via social media after a photo of her walking down the aisle made it to the Internet. She said
the dress was altered to accommodate this "fashion statement" for her big day. Carter-Brooks is dismissing the backlash, however, calling people "haters" and saying that her child was "awake and well secured" and that she (the child) was "covered by Christ."
I can't decide if my head or heart hurts more as I write this post. Let's forget for a second that she actually thought this was a good idea. Or the fact that the child was a one-month-old. Or the fact that the baby was fastened to the train of her dress. Let's focus on the fact that no one talked her out of this horrible, horrible idea! In fact, one person who attended the big day said the whole scene made her emotional. "'Shona and Johnathan Brooks your wedding was super perfect from the groom and his men and you and your diva's baby you rock the gown and the princess tagging behind you it brought tears to my eyes. Regardless of anybody else dream your's (sic) came true. I loved it and thank you for inviting me,'" wrote Pamela Stone. Finally, as the media backlash continues, the newlyweds released a statement, saying the following:
In summary:
"The answer is we do what we want when we want long Jesus on our side everything worked out fine and gone continue to be fine." - Shona Carter-Brooks Let's hear your thoughts in the comments section, below. Because something borrowed, something blue may be true, but dragging your child down the aisle is definitely something you shouldn't do!
