SUPERHEROES TO THE RESCUE! We all know that real life heroes are all around us. That they come in all shapes and sizes. That they just want to do good in a sometimes not-so-good world. Right? Well, how cool is this little story? Allegheny Window Cleaning Inc. in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, decided to turn a regular ol' window-cleaning day into a day that would bring smiles to the faces of ill children. Four employees dressed up as Batman, Spider-Man, Captain America and Superman before positioning their safety harnesses around them and heading outside to clean the windows of the hospital building. [caption id="attachment_1412" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Superhero window washers"] [/caption] Patients at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh woke up to a super-awesome surprise: SUPERHEROES! The superheroes were travelling around the exterior of the building just casually cleaning the windows. 'Cause that's what cool window-washing superheroes do, right? The children pointed in amazement and ran from room to room following the superheroes around the building. Office manager Michelle Matuizek, the wife of Edward Matuizek, president of Allegheny Window Cleaning, suggested the idea after seeing a similar scheme in the United Kingdom. "All the guys had tears of joy in their eyes behind the costumes and it was very touching and overwhelming how excited the children were," said Edward. "The hospital is a nice place to work, but emotionally, it's a really tough place to work." If the superhero window washers' mission for the day was to get the children's minds off of their pain, to have them forget (even if only for a few minutes) that they are sick and to see their beaming faces in an otherwise gloomy place... Well then, I think I can say... Mission most definitely accomplished!
