Valentine's Day proposals: Cute or cheesy?
Confession time: I hate
Valentine's Day proposals. Actually I hate any proposal that coincides with a holiday. It's so unoriginal. Holidays are already special and full of excitement, so it feels like cheating to me that someone capitalized on the happiness of a holiday. The really critical part of me thinks "Really, you couldn't come up with an
original proposal on your own, so you decided to rely on the cheesiness of Valentine's Day." I can maybe forgive a Christmas proposal because it's a meaningful holiday. But Valentine's Day is more cute than meaningful. I'm sure you're probably thinking that I'm a pretty horrible person with really high expectations. And I sort of am, not horrible, but someone who has high expectations. And while I enjoy the cute Valentine's Day cards and chocolates, I do not enjoy Valentine's Day
proposals. But even my cold heart was warmed by this sweet Valentine's week proposal. Our Features editor was driving to work and saw this adorable billboard, which she of course had to take a photo of. I wonder if Annie said yes to JP? I always assume if you're brave enough to propose on a billboard then you're pretty sure she's going to say yes.
So congratulations Annie and JP, I'm sure this is a Valentine's day you won't forget.
