The TV rating year-end numbers are in and, for the first time in years, a Canadian production ranks as the No. 1 series in the country for 2013. According to BBM Canada statistics, CTV's The Amazing Race Canada drew 3.5 million viewers in its timeslot during the reality series' first season. Hosted by Jon Montgomery, the series beat out last year's top TV series, The Big Bang Theory, by 500,000 viewers. Some of the most-watched news events of the year include the Boston Marathon bombings coverage, Pope Francis's appointment as head of the Vatican, and the Toronto Mayor Rob Ford crack scandal. Meanwhile, for one-time-only television events, Super Bowl XLVII came in first place with 6.6 millions on February 3.
