Stylish New York: Manhattan's NoMad Hotel

New York's NoMad hotel is one of Manhattan's finer spaces, offering luxury rooms with a Moulin Rouge feel. I had the privileged of spending a night at the NoMad during a recent work visit to NYC and I absolutely fell in love. As described on the NoMad's website, "The hotel is intended as a fresh take on the classic grand hotels of Europe with a distinct New York sensibility." I agree.

The lobby of the NoMad hotel reminds me of my travels through England. It's old world meets contemporary flare, and the decor is comfy yet sensible. Located just north of Madison Square Park (hence the name NoMad) in the Flatiron district, this hotel is perfect for travellers who are looking for luxury and accessibility in a midtown Manhattan location. You'll also find the NoMad hotel's restaurant located in the lobby, and it's luxurious ambiance offers a suitable dining experience for everyone from travellers and business types to families and people just passing through. I can go on record saying that I never wanted to leave my room at this hotel. From the comfy bed to the apartment-style layout, the rooms at the NoMad offer an old world charm that's akin to something you would have seen in the Belle Époque period of French history. I kept calling the room my boudoir, because that's what it felt like. From the beautiful furniture to the classic art on the walls, it's like someone took my dream bedroom out of my mind and created it. (Not to mention the fact that the bed was oh-so-comfy!) This was my favourite vignette in the room -- an old letter writing table and upholstered chair, backed by a modern flat-screen television. I absolutely adored the colours used in the room -- warm yellows, rusts and creams. They worked perfectly together and created a cosy, comfortable haven, during a chilly January day. Finally, one of the highlights of staying in this room was admiring all the art hanging on the walls. From the bedroom to the bathroom, each room in the NoMad has a distinct collection of art pieces that range from old vintage advertisements (like the Dior ad pictured above) to old postcards and letters collected from all over the world. Such charm! For more information about the hotel, dinning experiences, location and costs, visit thenomadhotel.com.
