Prince George's first birthday: 10 facts about the royal baby
Can you believe that Prince George will turn one on July 22? Doesn't it seem like yesterday that we were all anxiously waiting for his birth. Time sure does fly! In honour of George's birthday, here are 10 facts about this little cutie.
1. He's loud Prince George has been loud from day one! When he was first born Prince William
described baby G as having a lion's roar. On the Cambridges' tour of New Zealand, William revealed that 8-month-old
George was his loudest at 3 am and that he hoped he wasn't keeping people up.
2. He loves anything with wheels Like most little boys, George loves anything with wheels.
Prince William revealed at the Tour de France kickoff that George is "
interested in helicopters and anything with wheels." I wonder if George will be helicopter pilot like his dad, you know besides being the future King.
3. He's already walking When George had his
first public playdate, it was clear the little Prince was close to walking. But on Father's Day we got our first glimpse of a
walking Prince George! And not only is he walking, he's kicking soccer balls and
opening doors. Hopefully Kensington Palace is baby-proofed.
4. He loves to eat Just one look at George's chubby cheeks and you can tell the future king loves food. Kate joked that George was leaving his first official tour with an extra fat roll. Who doesn't gain a bit of weight when they're on holiday! We think George's chubbiness is adorable! And apparently George can thank
sweet potatoes for giving him those adorable chubby cheeks and thighs.
5. He's not impressed with stuffed animals There were so many adorable moments from the royal tour, but my favourite is when Kate gives George a stuffed bilby at the zoo. George looks at and then
tosses it to the floor, unimpressed. Holy cuteness!
6. He has a strong grip We also learned at the zoo visit that
George has a very strong grip. So strong that Kate told the zookeeper not to let George get too close to the bilby because George will grab his ear and not let go. It's always surprising how strong a baby's grip is, you don't realize it until they have a strand of your hair in their tight little grasp. Hopefully George doesn't pull on Kate's hair too much, next to George,
Kate's hair is the most talked about part of the monarchy.
7. He's already a style icon Sorry Kate, but George has trumped you as the
most stylish royal. From the moment George was carried out of the Lindo Wing, he's been influencing baby style, with his Aden + Anais swaddling blanket selling out immediately. More recently, George's royal tour wardrobe sold out and caused a surge in demand for classic white rompers. Luckily, we found some affordable ways you can
copy George's style.
8. He's a bit grumpy after a long flight When George arrived for the first leg of his royal tour, he didn't look too happy. In fact, he looked
downright grumpy! I can't blame the little guy, I am not that impressed after a long flight either. Kate later revealed that
George is rather grumpy after a long flight. And the heat didn't help matters! Poor Georgie!
9. He gets in food fights Prince George is only a couple months older than his
baby cousin Mia
—who's mom Zara is George's godmother. But apparently when George met 2-month-old
Mia there was "carnage." Mia's dad Mike Tindall explained that George was eating at the big first meeting and there was more food on the table than actually in George's mouth. Luckily baby Mia was asleep so I doubt she will hold this food fight against George, as long as he promises to have his table manners ready for their first state dinner.
10. Besides being king, George will be... Prince George is going to be busy! His athletic parents have high hopes that George will play a lot of sports, from polo to
sailing. Plus, George has been gifted with many sporty gifts, like a
skateboard and a Tour de France jersey. So George will be king, a polo player, a sailor, a biker, a skateboard...good thing he will have a personal assistant to keep his schedule in order! Happy birthday Prince George! We hope you have a marvelous day.
