Once Upon a Time takes on Frozen: A bad collaboration
Last night was the season finale of ABC's fairytale drama
Once Upon a Time. And of course the show ended with a major cliffhanger that gave us a hint of what's to come in season four. It looks like Elsa, the beloved princess from
Disney's Frozen will be heading to Storybrooke. I'm sure
Frozen fans are rejoicing that they get a continuation of this blockbuster film. And it makes sense for these two fictional worlds to collide because Disney owns ABC. But I for one am not a fan of this mash-up because I was incredibly bored by
Frozen. I know I'm in the minority when I say that, but I just didn't find
Frozen comparable to classic Disney films like
Beauty and the Beast and
Snow White. The romance was boring, the songs weren't catchy enough and I just didn't care about the characters. Sorry, I'm sure you're all hating me right now. So, I am of course I'm incredibly disappointed that
Once Upon a Time is taking on
Frozen. I think the strength of the show is that they take beloved
fairytale classics and give them a new twist, like what the show did this season with
The Wizard of Oz and
Peter Pan. But
Frozen is in no way a classic, it's far too new to be classic. I don't think the show will have the same resonance with fans if it's drawing from a newer film. I think the show had many other
fairytale storylines it could have tackled. I loved the introduction of
Robin Hood into this season. I hope they pursue that in season four. And I absolutely love the storyline between Emma and Hook. I was hoping that season four would focus on that romance and the back story of Hook. I need more of this charming pirate! But alas,
Frozen is coming to
Once Upon a Time. My only hope is that the TV version is more entertaining than the movie version.
Are you excited for the Once Upon a Time/Frozen mash-up?
