Olympic opening ceremonies: What they wore

Did you watch the Sochi Olympics opening ceremonies? It was hard to tear my eyes away, waiting with bated breath for the 221 athletes and 85 coaches of the Canadian Olympic Team to walk the world stage. And of course, my eyes were drawn to their official parade uniforms designed by the Hudson’s Bay.

The duffle coats were inspired by the Hudson’s Bay’s scarlet blanket and were layered on top of a mock turtleneck for women and a dress shirt with a tie for men. Both men and women also had wool sweaters underneath. Each athlete wore the "own the podium" mittens with a percentage of proceeds from sales going towards the Canadian Olympic Foundation. Oh and of course all of the athletes had on toques with the word Canada—you can't have a Canadian look without a toque.

And now that we are starting to win some medals, what will the athletes wear on the podium?

The Hudson's Bay also designed a red, white and black podium jacket along with black bottoms, a toque and gloves.
