Does your happiness level relate to the number of children you have?

438560588_644ec96734_z-4 According to a study from the London School of Economics and Western University, more is certainly not better...especially when it comes to the number of children you have. The research - based on data from Britain and Germany - followed parents for 18 years after birth to determine their happiness level. The findings revealed an increased level of happiness before and after the birth of the first and second child but didn't see the same results surrounding the birth of baby number three. "The arrival of the third child is not associated with an increase in the parents' happiness, but this is not to suggest they are any less loved than their older siblings. Instead, this may reflect that the experience of parenthood is less novel and exciting by the time the third child is born of that a larger family puts extra pressure on the parents' resources. Also, the likelihood of a pregnancy being unplanned may increase with the number of children a woman already has - and this brings its own stresses." As a parent of three children, I think the findings of this study pretty spot on. Although we love baby number three as much as her siblings, her arrival did in fact pose a few challenges that might have impeded our happiness level. Although the issues didn't have anything to do with our adorable and much loved baby girl, it had everything to do with adjusting and adapting our lives to accommodate a larger family and a much busier household. What do you think...do you agree with the study findings? Image courtesy of MyAngelG/Flickr
