Everything We Know About Meghan Markle's New Netflix Series
Meghan Markle is making her triumphant return to our TV screens with her new Netflix show, With Love, Meghan. But just days after the trailer dropped, it's already receiving backlash.
After a five-year absence from social media, the Duchess of Sussex surprised the public by posting the trailer of her Martha Stewart-esque series to Instagram on January 3.
“I have been so excited to share this with you! I hope you love the show as much as I loved making it,” she wrote beneath the video.
Shot on an idyllic estate in Montecito, California, the trailer shows Markle daintily arranging flowers, laughing alongside a friend while baking focaccia, and harvesting honey from a beehive. The eight-part series follows Markle as she shares tips for cooking, gardening, crafting, and more while joined by the likes of Mindy Kaling, Roy Choi, and Alice Waters.
But just days after the announcement, it’s already receiving pushback, with some critics calling it “tone deaf” and “tasteless,” particularly against a backdrop of an uncertain political climate in America.
The royals may be opting out of screening the show as well. Kinsey Schofield, host of the "To Di For Daily" podcast, told Fox News that the Prince and Princess of Wales have no interest in any of Markle's future projects. "‘Meghan was a background character in a chapter that’s already closed,'" said Schofield, allegedly quoting a palace source.
This opinion isn't universal. Others—including Oprah, who hosted the now infamous Meghan and Harry tell-all interview back in 2021—are celebrating the series’s anticipated release.
"We're about to see more of the Duchess of Sussex in 2025!" reads the post.
Backlash isn’t the only obstacle Markle’s trailer has faced since its announcement. Amid reports that Instagram mistakenly restricted the hashtag #WithLoveMeghan, blocking searches for the term on the site, Meta was forced to apologize for the error.
You can view all eight episodes of With Love, Meghan on Netflix starting January 15.
