From Vancouver to small-town Ontario, these are the culinary women you need to know about.
While many of us have our favourite recipes and restaurants, the chefs behind them can be elusive. Luckily, Canada’s current culinary scene is bursting with talent—particularly from women across the country.
Lynn Crawford
Would this be a culinary roundup without mentioning Lynn Crawford? Hailing from Toronto, she was the former the executive chef for the Four Seasons Hotels in Toronto and New York. Lynn is well-known for her appearances on many cooking shows, including being a judge on Top Chef Canada and Chopped Canada, an Iron Chef on Iron Chef Canada, and an expert on the Marilyn Denis Show.

Nuit Regular
If you’ve ever been to Toronto, you’ve likely eaten in one of Nuit Regular’s restaurants. The award-winning chef is a co-owner of beloved spots such as PAI, Kiin, and Sabai Sabai. In 2020, she released her first cookbook, Kiin: Recipes and Stories from Northern Thailand.
Eden Grinshpan
Eden Grinshpan, AKA “Eden Eats,” is a Canadian chef and food content creator. With a culinary degree from Le Cordon Bleu in London, Eden’s tasty recipes can be found on her social media and on Eden Eats on the Cooking Channel.
Suzanne Barr
Suzanne Barr was the chef and owner of the Afro-Carribean True True Diner in Toronto prior to its closure in 2020. She is the author of a cookbook, My Ackee Tree, and is a social advocate for racial justice in the culinary world.
Nicole Gomes
Born in Richmond, B.C., Nicole Gomes is the chef, co-founder, and owner at Cluck ‘N’ Cleaver, a chicken joint in Calgary. The season five winner of Top Chef Canada has competed in a variety of cooking competitions, including beating the legendary Bobby Flay on “Beat Bobby Flay.”
Andrea Carlson
Andrea Carlson is the chef and owner of Burdock & Co, a Michelin-star restaurant in Vancouver. Her women-owned and operated restaurant was the first to receive a star in Canada. She’s known for incorporating local, organic ingredients into her high-end dishes.
Anna Olson
