Amazing Big White Ice Climbing Tower
One more for the bucket list! It's the end of year (almost) and already I'm looking back at various adventures (big and small) that I was able to check off in 2013. Digging for claims in Prince Edward Island. Check. Tracking
polar bears in Northern Manitoba. Check. And while I did climb (okay, walk up)
the Big Chief in Squamish, I didn't really conquer any kind of great feat of height this past year. (I chickened out on the
CN Tower Edge Walk as some of my more courageous colleagues have done.) I just discovered one of my challenges for 2014:
Big White’s Ice Climbing Tower in Whistler, British Columbia. It soars 60 feet above the ground, bolstered by three feet of thick blue ice around four telephone poles which are cross-braced together in one huge, solid mass. There's a beginner side for newbies (that'd be me!) and three other sides for more advanced climbers (which wouldn't be me).
Would you be
brave enough to tackle the Ice Climbing Tower? More to the point: Will I?
