3 ways to make a fresh start in September
No matter your age, this month is bound to bring about that back-to-school mindset. It's one reason why September is dubbed "the new January." Here are a few ways to mark this fresh start.
1. Crack open a new day planner.
There's something about a blank agenda waiting to be filled with special dates and to-do lists. You can find a plethora of 16- to 18-month day planners out there. My favourite is the large one by Kate Spade New York with the dahlia print, available at indigo.ca for $42.
2. Plan a regular date night.
Once a week or every month, book quality time with your partner, mother, daughter…you get it. Give him or her your full attention, sans your smartphone and other distractions.
3. Volunteer.
There's nothing like donating part of your precious spare time to a deserving organization to boost those feel-good endorphins and truly help folks in need. For ideas, check out Volunteer Canada, which works with more than 200 volunteer centres across the country, and choose the placement that best fits you.
