10 spooky podcasts to listen for thrills and chills
Although we love indulging in murder mysteries all year round, October is truly the time for all things dark and scary to take centre stage.
We’ve rounded up some of our favourite spooky podcasts, from the macabre to true crime. Don’t listen in the dark (or do if you dare)!
Here are 10 thrilling podcasts to listen to this month:
1. RedHanded

One of the best things about this podcast, besides its hosts, is that it already has over 300 episodes that cover everything from unsolved murders to political assassinations. Suruthi Bala and Hannah Maguire cleverly recount the most interesting events in true crime, with supporting research and dry British humour.
Where to listen: Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Podcasts, Patreon.
2. Archive 81

Although entirely fictional, this podcast will truly send a chill down your spine. Archive 81 follows Dan, an archivist charged with restoring old tapes. The podcast is formatted as found footage, meaning it’s a series of recordings made by Dan that have later been found and “released.” Because of how expertly it breaks the fourth wall, it’ll have you wildly guessing theories from the first episode!
Where to listen: Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Radiopublic, Soundcloud, RSS.
3. Magnus Archives

Another fiction podcast, the Magnus Archives is structured as a series of recorded statements used for paranormal research at the fictional Magnus Institute. The eeriness of each episode is sure to keep you at night (proceed with caution).

7. Dr. Death

Everyone loves a good scary story, but how about a real-life tale about a doctor who botched several spinal surgeries? Dr. Death follows the story of Dr. Christopher Duntsch, a charming surgeon who, thanks to a “spineless” system that failed to protect his patients, was responsible for several mutilations and even deaths. Listen at your own risk.
