These 16 Canadian women are our heroes
From Laura Secord, who famously warned the British of a planned attack by American soldiers during the War of 1812 to Viola Desmond, who challenged segregation in Canada (and recently became the first woman to appear on a banknote!) to athlete and mental health advocate Clara Hughes, women have played a huge role in shaping Canada into the unified, equal and welcoming place it is today. So, for International Women's Day, we asked the Canadian Living family (which includes you, too, readers!) to tell us about the women they consider heroes—and there was no shortage of names to pick from. Whether your picks had political clout, made the world a little brighter through art and song or pushed the boundaries to fight for a better tomorrow, we are definitely inspired!
