We asked, you answered: what's your splurge food?
Whether it's going to your favourite restaurant, cooking up the tastiest recipe you can think of, or even grabbing fast food (no shame!), we all love to indulge.
The Canadian Living team took to Facebook to ask readers what their favourite splurge meal is. Admittedly, the responses made us a little hungry, so we paired your favourite splurge foods with some of the best recipes from our Test Kitchen.
Without a doubt, the top answer was steak, with a huge variety of pairings and sides. It's one of our favourites too, and we have great recipes for all of that. Check out our steak florentine, broccoli fettuccine alfredo, and classic cheesecake! Or, have you tried our peppercorn steaks? They pair perfectly with our wild mushroom freekeh salad and cheesy broccoli baked potatoes.
There's nothing like a decadent bowl of creamy macaroni and cheese, and the carb lover inside everyone will agree with this, dear reader. Whether you like it the traditional way or appreciate a good mix-up, we've got you covered. Try your hand at one of our 25 mac and cheese recipes.
This Canadian staple is the king of splurge food, and we love it! Canadian Living's ultimate poutine will definitely satisfy that craving.
The pizza lovers were definitely not silent on this either because what's a splurge meal without a cheesy slice of 'za? For some real splurge pizzas, try our sausage and brussels sprout pizza, or grilled bacon and feta mini pizzas, because no matter what size, a pizza is still a pizza. Want to make your own? Use our ultimate pizza dough recipe.
Another worthy reason to go all-out is sushi, but if you're having that craving and didn't want to break bank, Canadian Living has put together sushi recipes (yes, you should make it yourself!) to try out. Read through the step-by-step tutorial, then make the chicken and avocado brown rice sushi rolls. Feeling creative? Make these great Canadian sushi animals!
