How Often Should I Change My Brita Filter?
Brita filters are a great way to reduce unpleasant water taste and remove unwanted contaminants like copper and mercury, but their efficacy wanes as time goes on.
For best results, it’s recommended to regularly switch out your filter for a fresh one. But how often should this be done?
The short answer is that it depends—on the Brita product, the filter, and the type of water being filtered through. If you have hard water, for example, you may need to change filters more often. Some Brita products also have electronic indicators that will prompt you once it’s time to make the swap.
For most pitchers, dispensers, and water bottles, Brita suggests replacing Standard and Stream filters every two months (or around every 150 litres). Faucet mount filters can be replaced every four months, while Elite pitcher and dispenser filters will last up to six months.
