Materials:

• Caron® Colorama™ O'Go™ (6.4 oz/180 g; 228 yds/208 m)
• First Blush 1 O’Go
• Size U.S. J/10 [6 mm] crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
• Stitch marker
• Yarn needle

Gauge: 10 hdc and 8 rows = 4” [10 cm]

Abbreviations: 

• Approx = Approximately
• Beg = Beginning
• Ch = Chain(s)
• Hdc = Half double crochet
• Hdc2tog = (Yoh and draw up a loop in next stitch) twice. Yoh and draw through all loops on hook
• Rem = Remain(ing)
• Rnd(s) = Round(s)
• Sc = Single crochet
• Scbl = Single crochet in back loop only of next stitch
• Sl st = Slip stitch
• St(s) = Stitch(es)
• Tog = Together
• Yoh = Yarn over hook

Notes:

• To begin working with the O’Go format, carefully cut plastic tie where the ends of the O’Go meet.
• Pull tie to remove.
• Start crocheting!
• Colours can be easily separated by gently pulling apart and cutting at the colour transition. Each colour is ready to use
• All rounds (rnds) are joined with slip stitch (sl st) to first stitch (st).
• Chain (ch) 2 at beg of rnd does not count as st.

Ch 11.

1st row: 1 single crochet (sc) in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of chain. Turn. 10 sc.

2nd row: Ch 1. 1 single crochet in back loop only (scbl) of each st to end of row. Turn.

Rep 2nd row until work from beg measures 22” [56 cm] when slightly stretched.

Join last row and first row together (tog) with 1 row of sl st to form tube.

Beg working in rnds:

1st rnd: [Right side (RS)]. 1. Working along side edge of ribbing, work 54 sc evenly around. Join with sl st to first sc. Place marker at end of rnd.

2nd rnd: Ch 2. 1 half double crochet (hdc) in each st around. Join.

Rep 2nd rnd until work from lower edge measures 7" [18 cm].

Beg shaping crown:

1st rnd: Ch 2. *1 hdc in each of next 4 sts. Half double crochet next 2 sts tog (hdc2tog). Repeat (Rep) from * around. Join. 45 sts.

2nd rnd: Ch 2. *1 hdc in each of next 3 sts. Hdc2tog. Rep from * around. Join. 36 sts.

3rd rnd: Ch 2. *1 hdc in each of next 2 sts. Hdc2tog. Rep from * around. Join. 27 sts.

4th rnd: Ch 2. *1 hdc in next st. Hdc2tog. Rep from * around. Join. 18 sts.

5th rnd: Ch 2. *Hdc2tog. Rep from * around. Join. 9 sts.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Draw end through remaining (rem) sts and secure tightly.

Pompom: With strands of any unused shades held together, wind yarn around 4 fingers approx 100 times in total. Remove from fingers and tie tightly in center. Cut through each side of loops. Trim to a smooth round shape. Sew pompom to top of Hat.
