Summer stitch along – are you interested?
I'm sure I'm not the only one who's already thinking about porch sits, poolside drinks and cottage weekends – and, of course, summer crafting. There aren't too many things better than spending a lazy summer afternoon under a tree, sipping an iced tea and doing a bit of stitching.
Would you be interested in joining me on a Summer Stitch Along? The idea is not so much to tackle a super challenging project as it is to provide a fun accompaniment to those lovely long summer nights. Something that, when you look at it in January, will make you smile and remember the smell of campfires, the feel of cool lake water or the sound of a ball game in progress.
Since summer sports programs are already in full swing (and since September's always such a busy month), we'd start in early June and wrap things up by Labour Day weekend. Like last time, we'll convene once a week on the blog to discuss our projects, troubleshoot and cheer each other on. And there would be prizes, too!
I'm not talking about a
huge wooly sweater like last time. Instead, we could work on a small project – maybe something like one of these:
- a cross-stitched sampler;
- a mini quilt or some hand-stitched hexagons;
- a reverse-appliqué project;
- a small knitting project, such as socks or an easy shawl
