Stash buster: 5 tiny hat ornaments for your Christmas tree
You know when you have a really good idea for a craft? I mean, a really,
really good idea? Something you think is so brilliant you don't tell anyone because you know that, someday, someone will want you to reveal it to the world? I have those all the time.
Then I Google them and realize that approximately 7 million people are just as brilliant as – but faster than – me.
Nestor is not amused. And so it went with my idea for knitting little hats as Christmas ornaments. I figured it was a great way to use up small, annoying bits of leftover yarn. Hats are a fun knit anyway, and tiny ones are just that much cuter. It's like knitting a sweater for a baby vs. one for your adult sister. Baby knits always win. So now that I know how brilliant so many people are, here are 5 of my favourites, for your knitting pleasure.
5 Tiny Hat Ornaments to Make for Your Christmas Tree
- Tiny Toques from Just Crafty Enough, good for elves and miniature skiers
- The Jayne Cobb Hat Brooch by Eva Wu, perfect for Firefly fans who'd rather wear their ornaments than put them on a tree
- Tunisian Mini Hat, for crocheters who want to try out the Tunisian crochet technique without committing to something huge, from Inner Child Crochet
- Winter Hat Ornaments (that are brilliant but not actually knitted) from Good Knits
- Santa hat, plus a fuzzy wreath from Canadian Living's own archives
