Empty your pumpkin in two minutes with this genius trick
We love a good Jack O’ Lantern but the process of emptying out the pumpkin of its slimy inside? We usually like to leave that job for somebody else.
That’s why we were amazed when we saw this viral trick actress Jennifer Garner shared on Instagram, inspired by @BrunchWithBabes, that will get rid of all the goo in your pumpkin in minutes. You don’t even have to get your hand dirty!
Here are three easy steps to empty your pumpkin in just a few turns of a mixer!
1. CUT THE BOTTOM
The first step is to cut the bottom, not the top, of the pumpkin with a knife. This will make it easier to grip the stem and place the pumpkin on top of a candle or torch.
2. USE YOUR MIXER
Next, make sure your pumpkin is well stabilized and run your mixer around the inside of the fruit to loosen any residue and seeds.
3. COLLECT THE SEEDS
Now, using a large spoon, scoop out your pumpkin and don't forget to save the delicious seeds, which you can rinse and roast.
CARVING YOUR PUMPKIN
For a hassle-free, mess-free carving session, use cookie cutters (such as hearts for the eyes, a large moon for the mouth, a triangle for the nose, etc.) and hammer them in. You don't need a knife, just push on the designs to make them fall out and create the face.
If you prefer to draw on your pumpkin remember to use a pencil that can be erased with water and not a permanent marker.
Cover all cut surfaces with petroleum jelly to keep the pumpkin moist after carving. The pumpkin will keep for one to two weeks.
SPRINKLE WITH CINNAMON
For a spicy scent, you can sprinkle cinnamon inside your pumpkin. Place it over a lit candle to give off a sweet autumn vibes. A guaranteed success!
