DIY: embroidered tree throw pillow
Learn how to make this country-chic tree-embroidered throw pillow.
This tree is created using two different stitches. The red thread really stands out against the unbleached background of the pillow’s fabric.
Finished size
12½" x 12½"
No. 25 embroidery floss
DMC 3777, 3 skeins
MATERIALS (for one pillow)
Exterior fabric: Linen, unbleached, 13¾" x 27½"
One pillow insert, 13¾" x 13¾"
HOW TO MAKE
1. Transfer the embroidery pattern to the right side of the exterior fabric, as shown below. Embroider the pattern then cut the fabric to the dimensions noted, adding a ½" seam allowance on all four sides.

2. Fold the fabric in half lengthwise, right sides together, and sew the edges together, leaving a 6" long opening for turning out.

3. Make a crease on each side to center the seam from step 2, then sew the top and bottom edges together. Finish the seam allowances with a zigzag stitch.

4. Turn right side out, stuff the pillow insert inside, then whipstitch the opening.
