Clever little crocheted rosettes are blossoming on almost everything this fall -- hats, purses and scarves, as well as lapels. With scraps of yarn and an afternoon, you can create an entire bouquet.

You need:
Small amounts of the following yarn:
Patons Astra (50 g)
Lip Pink No. 02895 (Yarn A)
Patons Brilliant (50 g)
Beautiful Burgundy No. 04430 (Yarn B)
Black Dazzle No. 04940 (Yarn C)
Patons Divine (100 g)
Amethyst Allure No. 06310 (Yarn D)
Denim Storm No. 06117 (Yarn E)
Patons Classic Merino Wool (100 g)
Burgundy No. 00208 (Yarn F)
Navy No. 00216 (Yarn G)
3.75 mm crochet hook
4 mm crochet hook
5.5 mm crochet hook
6.5 mm crochet hook

Tension, below, indicates which hook size to use with each yarn.

Tension
• With Astra and 3.75 mm hook: 17 sc and 19 rows = 10 cm (4 ins).
• With Brilliant and 4 mm hook: 17 sc and 19 rows = 10 cm (4 ins).
• With Classic Merino Wool and 5.5 mm hook: 15 sc and 16 rows = 10 cm (4 ins).
• With Divine and 6.5 mm hook: 9 sc and 10 rows = 10 cm (4 ins).

To make:
Note: Standard abbreviations are used.
Ch 3, sl st to form ring.
Rnd 1: [Ch 3, sl st in ring] 5 times.
Rnd 2: *Ch 1, [1 sl st, 1 hdc, 2 dc, 1 hdc,
1 sl st] in next ch-3 sp, rep from * to end of rnd.
Rnd 3: Ch 2 (doesn't count as st), [(working in ch-3 sp of Rnd 1: 1 sl st from back to front between next 2 dc), ch 4]
5 times, skip first ch 2, sl st to next
ch-4 sp to complete 5 ch-4 sps which form the “petals.”
Rnd 4: Ch 1, [1 sc, 4 dc, 1 sc] in same
ch-4 sp, * [1 sc, 4 dc, 1 sc] in next ch-4 sp, rep from * to end of rnd, sl st to first sc. Fasten off OR, to make larger rosette, continue as follows:
Rnd 5: Ch 3 (doesn't count as st), [(working in ch-4 sp of Rnd 3: 1 sl st from back to front between centre 2 dc of next petal), ch 4] 5 times, skip first
ch 3, sl st to next ch-4 sp.
Rnd 6: *[1 dc, 4 tr, 1 dc, 1 sl st] in next
ch-4 sp, rep from * to end of rnd.
Fasten off.

To edge petals:
Join contrasting-colour yarn with sl st to first st of any petal of Rnd 2, ch 1, 1 sc in same sp as sl st, [ch 2, 1 sc in next st] to end of rnd, sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

Rep to edge each layer.
