Easy ways to make your laundry room more inviting
Our home & style director, Ann Marie Favot, shares how to take your laundry room from dark and dingy to warm and inviting.
Q: How can I make my laundry room feel inviting?
Let's face it: In most homes, the laundry room is the last place you want to be. This utilitarian space tends to be cold and under-lit, but if you take the time to decorate yours thoughtfully, washing clothes might become your idea of a peaceful retreat.
First and foremost, brighten the room with ample and stylish light fixtures (think overhead, sconce and task lighting). Next, warm things up with textiles such as a plush rug, a roman blind and wicker storage bins. And don't be afraid to go bold with colour and pattern—this small, out-of-the-way area is ideal for a bit of playful decorating.
Q: What about laundry bins?
Ditch that unappealing plastic laundry bin in favour of a beautiful natural-fibre hamper. The simple earthy addition will help soften the room's hard surfaces.
