Colin and Justin, the resident judges of W Network's Game of Homes, share a little peek into the exciting new season.

A talent—and passion—for breathing new life into tired spaces drew both Colin and Justin to this project.  “These are houses that otherwise would have been demolished and this show gives them another chance to shine,” says Justin.

Each week, four teams compete to renovate the rundown houses into dream homes. They work on tight deadlines and even tighter budgets as they tackle the houses room by room. Guest judges help Colin and Justin offer feedback to the competing teams after each challenge. In  the dramatic finale, the team whose home is voted the best wins their house and a pot of land. 

Both Colin and Justin admit to being very candid with their opinions when it came time to judge. “There was some tough love this year because we wanted the contestants to excel every week,” says Colin. Adds Justin, “as judges we knew what we wanted at every single turn. We were looking for a combination of design bravery, high design standards and workmanship.”

Filming the show was nostalgic for Colin. “It took us right back to when we got on the property ladder; when we had no money at all,” he says. “We did not have an ideal apartment, but we scraped it together, bought second-hand and did all the work ourselves. We doubled our money on that property which set us on our path for everything we have done since.”

This reminder led to very high expectations during the weekly walk-throughs. “If you are going to be given a home, the land and all of the furniture, you are going to have to work for it. We wanted to be impressed with beautiful design,” says Colin. Adds Justin, ”What we wanted to see was an improvement in every area week to week. Contestants would sometimes use last minute styling and positioning of accessories to hide workmanship but we were very hands on, moving things and lifting things, almost going through the properties with magnifying glasses looking for high standards.”
