9 Ways to Bring the 2017 Colour of the Year—Greenery—Into Your Home
The colour of 2017 is a zesty shade that calls to mind the sunny days in spring and early summer when nature’s greens have been revived.
Since 2000, Pantone has chosen a colour that’s inspired by the current cultural happenings around the world to name as “Colour of the Year.” Greenery, which the company calls “nature’s neutral,” has been named the colour of 2017. The shade is zesty and refreshing—and that’s exactly why it was picked. Leatrice Eiseman, the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, says greenery is a symbol of society’s “desire to rejuvenate and revitalize.”
This yellow-green shade talks to the theme of “environment” and today’s “go-green” movement. It’s the colour that signifies new beginnings: A year of fresh starts, healthier living, more time spent outdoors, and a rise in vegetarian trends.
On the Pantone website, the company stated that greenery is "Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of 'greenery' signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate." And one way to do so is by incorporating the shade into your home.
Greenery is probably not a colour you’re used to choosing when it comes to decor, but it’s a lot easier (and much cooler) to use in your home than you may think. Go the dramatic route and invest in a bold green sofa for a fun focal point, or simply add a hint of the energetic hue with an accessory like a vase or candle.
So, are you ready for a fresh start in 2017? Flip through the slideshow for nine ways to revive your space with greenery.
