15 Interior Design Trends We're Excited For This Spring

What’s old is new and what’s new is exciting!

This year is about innovative all-new trends, as well as a return to old favourites that feel fresh in modern for interiors.

1. Back in Memphis

We’re going back to the future with this redo of the 1980s postmodern movement known as Memphis. This design moment was born in Milan and became “the look” of the ’80s with its exaggerated geometric shapes, vivid colours, eclectic patterns, and daring contrasts. Well, it’s back, with even more of its more-is-more approach. Look for sculptural, avant-garde furniture, asymmetrical shelves, and tables with graphic legs—but with new metallic finishes or in reimagined palettes. The mantra: capture attention and ignite conversation. By embracing this trend, you craft a space that celebrates creativity, individuality and, above all, the sheer joy of living!

2. Show Your Stripes

Stripes are so on trend, but not just any stripes! We’re talking thick bands of colour, often contrasted with white or beige stripes. We’re seeing wallpaper, fabrics, and decorative accessories in this classic pattern. If you prefer a more subtle approach, try a striped cushion or two on the sofa. You can also use striped wallpaper to create the illusion of added height or width in a room. Stripes are a fun, vibrant pattern that can work in any home.

3. Berry Beautiful

The playful and iconic strawberry pattern is making a delightful return. Whether on fabric for curtains, cushions or tablecloths, or as a decorative motif on dishware and accessories, strawberries add a fun and unpretentious charm.

BONUS: Berries aren’t the only on-trend fruit: look for citrusy oranges and lemons to also make a splash in 2025.

4. Vintage Chic

From iconic 1950s furnishings to groovy 1970s designs, yesterday’s classics are bringing timeless style to our homes today. Natural wood and plush fabrics like velvet will lend warmth. The finish on older pieces—like rustic antique oak dressers or polished 1960s teak credenzas—should be left untouched: their patina is what brings character to a space.

5. Terracota Revival

Once overlooked, terracotta is making a vibrant comeback. Terracotta floors, walls, and terracotta-coloured wall paints and textiles are associated with warmth and a relaxed lifestyle. With its signature brownish red shade, terracotta can be used as an accent to add a pop of colour to living rooms, kitchens, and bathrooms, or use it to make an impact on entire walls and floors for that earthy, sun-baked look.

6. Green Power

Considered the new grey, green is everywhere, especially on tiles! Green and wood are natural partners, perfectly paired to complement rustic or contemporary decor. This duo adds depth and understated elegance to any room, but we are especially loving green in the bathroom and kitchen.

7. The Art of Less

While previous years have seen a tendency toward strict minimalism, 2025 continues the trend toward a warmer, softer minimalist approach. More than just a trend, minimalism is a true philosophy of life that prioritizes clean spaces where each element is carefully selected to create a serene atmosphere and understated sophistication. Sleek furniture with simple lines takes centre stage, complemented by soft, plush rugs, textured cushions and cozy wool throws. The goal? Achieving the perfect balance between pared-back simplicity and comfort.

8. A New Mindset

We are finally becoming more conscious of the environmental impact of our choices, and want ways to minimize our ecological footprint, and this extends to home decor. The trend manifests in numerous ways, from the selection of materials to the styling of spaces. Furniture and accessories crafted from recycled or sustainable materials are more popular than ever. People are gravitating toward options like FSC-certified wood, bamboo, cork and recycled metal. Beyond their sustainability, these materials infuse spaces with a welcoming warmth.

9. The Return Of Ruffles

Hello, ruffles! Straight out of Granny’s closet, ruffles are back and bringing charm and frilly thrills to interiors in the most sweetly nostalgic way. Look for ruffles on cushions, bedding, drapery and even upholstery. Ruffles are considered passementerie (which means trims and borders) by designers. These are small details that tie a design together and lift a room into designer-polished territory.

10. The Future Is Now

Tech is changing not just how we live, but what our homes look like. Whether incorporated into the actual structure of buildings, integrated into furniture or brought in as a standalone high-tech element, our homes are getting “smarter” in 2025. Smart technologies offer innovative features like integrated LED lighting in shelving and furniture, touchscreen panels in walls for controlling lighting and temperature, and smart speakers hidden within decorative objects. The tech frontier is on the home front!

11. The "In" Door

A mini trend we love is taking the often overlooked humble interior door from ordinary to extraordinary. Try painting your doors and their frames in contrasting colours to make doors a decorative feature—choose this year’s on-trend colours for maximum impact. And if you tire of the colour, it’s such an easy fix: simply repaint. Of course, the same approach can be applied to exterior doors.

12. Chrome Comeback

Here’s a trend that feels so now but also has a retro vibe. From 1950s chrome kitchen sets to curvy ’70s chairs and floor lamps, chrome has a cachet that can’t be beat. Ways to bring the trend home include gleaming chrome faucets in the kitchen, sleek polished-chrome door handles in an entryway, or the sparkle of chrome furniture frames in the living and dining rooms. Chrome can be elegant, infusing spaces with a glimmer of reflected light and bringing swish, sophisticated flair, as well as contrast, to more natural textures.

13. Coffee Talk

Whether you’re a lover of lattes or you prefer a strong black Americano, creating a customized dedicated coffee prep area continues to be on “dream kitchen” lists given to designers. Not renovating? No problem. There are so many sophisticated coffee machines on the market that the perfect cuppa is within reach. Add a tray of matching mugs or cups and saucers, coffee beans stylishly stored in an eye-catching airtight container (glass jars are our top choice), and accessories, and you’re ready to brew.

14. Mighty Lights

One of the easiest ways to bring an on-trend look to rooms is switching out light fixtures. New lighting collections always capture the latest in shapes and colours, and this year is no different. Sculptural bases, unique shades, pastel hues and clean curves are the “illuminating” features of 2025’s top lights. Look for sleek geometric lines and opal glass globes as defining features. Also on the horizon are more futuristic styles that have a technological appearance (think Star Trek!).

15. Crazy For Curves

The well-established trend toward curvy elements and architectural features continues to gain prominence. Puffy upholstered pieces, archways, kitchens with curved countertops—the organic lines of curves can be seen throughout the home, softening angular and straight lines and reinterpreting the elegance of classic architecture for today.
