What the heck are Swedish sponge cloths?
So. "
Swedish sponge cloths." I'd certainly never heard of them, but -- as one of those twisted souls who actually
loves cleaning -- I was pretty pumped to find a few samples of these all-purpose cleaning cloths on my desk the other day. It turns out
sponge cloths have been a staple in
Scandinavian kitchens for the past
60 years, although they're only recently starting to make waves in the North American market, via dealers like Toronto-based etailer
Ten & Co.
Ten & Co.'s eco-friendly take on the sponge cloth is made from cellulose, which is
quick-drying,
naturally anti-bacterial, and
gentle enough to use on virtually any surface in the kitchen, including
granite, stainless steel, laminate and glass. What's more, they're a heckuva lot cooler on your counter than that
grotty old kitchen sponge. The
Ten & Co. team
actually designs their own sponge cloths, including these
fab festive motifs that would make fantastic stocking stuffers for those cleaning-freaks on your gift-giving list. (Presuming I'm not the only clean-freak out there, that is.) Nice price, to boot!
