Inspiration overload at IDS 2013
The one party I never miss is the annual
Interior Design Show (IDS) opening night gala in Toronto. It's a fabulous way for me to start off the new year, catching up with my industry friends and colleagues all under one roof! Giddy with anticipation – or was it the flowing Prosecco? – I wandered from booth to booth snapping photos of some of the highlights of the show, which I'll share with you here. If you've never attended
IDS you should mark your calendar and plan to attend with some friends next January. Like me, you'll be inspired by beautiful design and decor, get the scoop on the latest home decor products and see unique works by talented artisans from painters to woodworkers to rug designers. Here are my standouts from this year's Interior Design Show and where you can find them. [caption id="attachment_1316" align="aligncenter" width="430"]

Above: I love the simple but strong lines of
Shelter's Rook Table Lamp, which features a solid walnut base and a linen shade.
Below: Colourful powder-coated metal finishes, solid walnut, steel and marble define Shelter's signature modern style. [caption id="attachment_1318" align="aligncenter" width="300"]

Tomlin Group quartz basin is a space saver and drama queen all in one. Perfect for a tiny guest loo. Love the stand-up faucet! [caption id="attachment_1321" align="aligncenter" width="290"]

Stone Forest sinks are like jewels for the bathroom crafted from natural stone. The sink in the centre, which is made of honed basalt (a natural volcanic stone), looks like soapstone, but is much more durable and soft to the touch. [caption id="attachment_1322" align="aligncenter" width="430"]

Below: This stunning Lady Gaga in Vogue rug designed for
Modallion Rug Design by artist Robyn Waffle definitely caught my eye. The company's rugs
are handmade in natural and renewable materials, and are available exclusively at
Reznick Carpets. [caption id="attachment_1323" align="aligncenter" width="430"]

Below: I found this wonderful piece of art by
Blair Chivers at
MJG Gallery's booth. Gallery owner
Mark Gleberzon is one of my favourite Toronto artists. You can see his work at MJG Gallery, 555 Parliament Street in Toronto. I love the quote: "Live out of your imagination, not your history." This would be great for a front hall or bathroom. [caption id="attachment_1325" align="aligncenter" width="414"]

50 shades of Canadel!
Below: I loved how
Canadel, one of Canada's leading furniture manufacturers, displayed the wide variety of colours available in their casual dining collection. This customizable furniture line is available at retailers across Canada, including
Home Hardware
Home Furniture stores. See below for a fun display in Home Hardware's Beauti-Tone booth using Canadel's
pieces painted in Beauti-Tone colours. [caption id="attachment_1332" align="aligncenter" width="430"]

Urban Barn is a great source for unique accessories like these bold cushions in every colour of the rainbow! They'll add an instant update to any room. [caption id="attachment_1333" align="aligncenter" width="314"]
