10 Thoughtful Gifts That Don't Cost A Thing
The holidays don't have to be a strain on your finances! Here are 10 totally free gift ideas.
We understand that the holidays are the most expensive time of the year. But giving gifts to your loved ones doesn't have to come with financial stress! In fact, an expensive present does not mean that it's the most personal one.
If you'd like to add a personal touch (and save some money!) this holiday season, here are 10 thoughtful gifts you can give that won't break the bank.
1. A cookie box
Nothing sweeter than a personalized cookie box that you made with love! Pick three or four recipes that you like and that the person receiving the box will enjoy. You can place your cookies in a cardboard box that you can get at the dollar store and decorate it any way you want. Bonus: this will make multiple gifts!

2. Write a letter
If you know someone whose love language is words of affirmation, then this one is sure to hit home. Laughs and cries guaranteed!
3. Make something artsy
Alternatively, if words aren't your strong point but you like arts and crafts, drawing a portrait of them (or their pet!), painting something unique or making something with your hands like a mug is an excellent idea.
4. Gift the gift of relaxation
With a scented shower or bath bomb! These can be quite expensive to buy, but you can easily make one yourself using relaxing essentials oils. Here's how.
5. Make a playlist
Make a soundtrack for your relationship full of meaningful songs. You can share this with them via Spotify or any other streaming platform that you use. However, if you want to go the extra mile and be truly old-school, burn a city or a cassette.
6. Bake granola

This is a cute gift that'll have them thinking about you at breakfast time! Granola is an easy gift to make and you can customize the container jars to make them as festive as you want. Get the recipe for quinoa granola here.
7. Plan a day together
This one is great if you don't see each other very often. Pick a day that works for both of you and plan some fun activities. You could go for a hike, grab a coffee and walk around town, or stay in and play board games.
8. Share your favourite book
Let's be honest, how likely is it that you will be rereading ALL your books? Wrap up one of your favourites (or a couple!) and share your love for reading with your loved ones.
9. Pass down an heirloom
Granted, this works better with someone you are close to. If you're struggling to find a gift for your children, how about digging through some of your parents' things? You're likely to find a beautiful vintage piece that'll be adored by the next generation!
10. Create a photo album
Ideally a physical one! Print out a few dozens of your best (and funniest) pictures together that commemorate your relationship and put them in a notebook or scrapbook with cute personal messages.
