The benefits of blueberries
According to Stéphanie Côté, a nutritionist-consultant for wild blueberry producers, blueberries have three main health benefits:
Rich in antioxidants
Wild blueberries differ from cultivated blueberries in size (they are smaller) and flavour (they are much tastier). They are also more concentrated in antioxidants due to their blue pigments called anthocyanins. Several antioxidant compounds present in this small blue fruit are recognized for the potential prevention of obesity, diabetes, degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and more.
Prevent the aging of cells
Wild blueberries are also associated with a reduced risk of cancer, cardiovascular disease and even the prevention of cell aging.
