Should You Add A Protein Shake To Your Daily Diet?

Whether you're an athlete or not, protein shakes and drinks can be a useful diet supplement.

Protein is essential for health. Amino acids help to build and maintain muscle mass and keep bones and joints healthy.

Every time you sit down to eat, you're going to impact your blood sugar. If you don't consume enough protein at your meal or snack, your blood sugar is going to go on a roller coaster ride and create havoc with your satiety levels, mood and more.

Protein shakes and drinks can help us reach our protein goals when we know we aren't going to get enough at a meal, after exercise or while running around during the day.

Although we love whole foods for the majority of our protein needs, powders can help us reach goals for healthy living. Some experts say you should aim for 30 grams of protein per meal and eat roughly 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight. Adding protein powders to diet will ensure you get all nine essential amino acids each day.

Support Muscle Growth

The animo acids in protein help to repair damaged muscle fibres, promoting faster recovery and growth. Protein acts as chemical messengers that facilitate communication between your cells, tissues and organs. Your muscles will be stronger and more powerful because of it.

Help With Recovery

Protein shakes help you recover after a workout. Amino acids can be converted into glucose through a process called gluconeogenesis to provide energy. You should consumer one about 30 minutes after a workout to nourish your muscles and reap the most benefits.
