Mindy Kaling and that adoration only grew after
she was on Jimmy Kimmel's show this week. Mindy talked about how people are so shocked that she takes pride in her body, even though she's not a size two. Ever the comedian, Mindy joked about people being surprised that the "chubby" star actually works out. "They’re like, ‘It’s so refreshing that Mindy feels comfortable to let herself go and be a fat sea monster.’ By the way, I like run and work out. It takes a lot of effort to look like a normal/chubby woman," she said. Hallelujah! Thank you Mindy. It's so refreshing to see a celebrity say she works out and eats well in order to be normal, not to be skinny. Being skinny is held up as this ideal that all women should want to achieve. Actually, it's not even an ideal, skinny is considered the norm. But the reality is a lot of women aren't built to be skinny, they're meant to have curves. And shockingly, some women love
having curves. I like my curves,
I feel proud of them, much like Mindy is proud of hers. But more than that, I'm proud that I'm healthy. And for every women, "healthy" means something different. Some women are healthy at a size two, others are healthy at a size 10. All that really matters is that you eat and work out so you feel healthy and are giving your
body the nourishment it needs. You shouldn't be working out in order to meet some insane beauty ideal. I'm so thrilled Mindy has spoken out about this topic. I hope that when someone sees a woman with larger thighs and a bit of fat around her middle, they realize that woman isn't working out so she can be skinny. She's working out to stay the size she is
—which isn't a fat or chubby size, it's a healthy size!
