In slow cooker, place onion, garlic, hot pepper flakes, turmeric, cumin, coriander, ginger, sweet potato, lentils and broth. Season with salt and pepper; stir to combine. Cover and cook on Low until sweet potatoes are very tender, about 4 hours. Stir in cream and kale, cover and continue cooking for 30 minutes. Using handheld blender, purée soup, if desired. Serve with crackers, if desired.
