Get the recipes: Caramelized Onions and The Ultimate Burger Buns
Preheat barbecue to medium-high heat (about 375°F); grease grill.
Coarsely chop 1/2 cup of the Caramelized Onions. In bowl, stir together chopped onions, 3 tbsp of the mayonnaise, mustard, garlic and salt. Gently mix in turkey and bread crumbs just until combined. Shape into four 4-inch wide patties.
Place patties on grill; close lid and cook, flipping once, until instant-read thermometer inserted sideways into patties reads 165°F, about 10 minutes. Top patties with cheddar (if using); close lid and cook until cheese is melted, about 1 minute.
Spread remaining 2 tbsp mayonnaise onto bottom halves of buns; top with arugula, patties, remaining 1/4 cup Caramelized Onions, avocado and bacon. Sandwich with top halves of buns.
