5 Tips To Keep Wasps Away Naturally
Nothing is more unpleasant than when wasps invite themselves to the table.
As the summer season progresses, more and more wasps are circling around our dinner and drinks. Since they participate in pollination and help to eliminate other harmful insects, we're turning to natural deterrents for wasps instead of trap and kill methods.
Here are five effective tips to keep these unwanted guests away.
5 Ways To Keep Wasps Away
Clove
Clove is a natural wasps repellent. Many restaurants use it on their patios. Place a small amount of freshly crushed cloves on your outdoor dining table.
Essential Oils
The concentrated scent of the biochemical molecules of certain essential oils, such as lavender and geranium, acts as a repellent for several insects, including wasps. Pour a few drops into a container and place in the middle of the table.
Incense Sticks
Light and place incense sticks all around your party area. Wasps hate strong smells and will avoid approaching.
Coffee
Wasps cannot stand the smell of coffee! Burn a little ground coffee in a container and place it on your garden table. The coffee burns by incandescence, without producing a flame, but gives off a smoke that scares away the wasps.
A False Nest
There are very realistic fake wasp nests on the market. These have a deterrent effect on territorial wasps, since it is very rare to see two nests in the same area. However, this method does not work with all types of wasps, as nests differ from one species to another.
