Labneh is a thick, tangy, velvety strained yogurt with a mascarpone-like flavour. It makes a great base for sweet strawberries, tart cassis syrup and toasted pistachios.

Frozen Nanaimo Pie

We've turned the classic B.C. bar into an easy three-step pie—all without the need of an oven! Custard powder gives softened ice cream the same taste as the bar's signature creamy filling; pour it over a nutty crust and top with ganache for a minimal-effort dessert that wows.

This Canada Day–themed dessert is bright and refreshing. Assembling your cake the night before saves time and allows the flavours to combine. Choose the ripest, reddest strawberries for the perfect flag topping.

Best Maple Butter Tarts

Make your own delectable custardy tarts instead of buying them. We've subbed in the very Canadian ingredient maple syrup for the more common corn syrup. Plus, we've included variations on the classic, with chocolate and pecans instead of raisins.

Rhubarb Ginger Fool

This traditional English dessert, made with stewed fruit and whipped cream, tastes decadent but has a lovely light texture. For a quick treat, cook the rhubarb the day before, then simply whip the cream and assemble before serving. If fresh rhubarb isn't available, you can substitute the same amount of thawed frozen rhubarb—just thoroughly pat it dry.

Buttermilk Panna Cotta With Macerated Strawberries

This classic dessert has a wonderful sweet-tangy balance, thanks to the addition of buttermilk. It takes only 15 minutes of hands-on time to prepare, leaving you more breathing room to work on the rest of the meal.

Butter Tart Ice Cream

Chunks of buttery shortbread and a sweet butterscotch ripple make this ice cream taste just like Canada's favourite tart. If you like raisins or pecans in your butter tarts, swirl a small handful into the ice cream when you add the butterscotch and the cookies.

Layered Strawberry Rhubarb Trifle

This fresh-tasting dessert is made with a tart rhubarb sauce that offsets the sweetness of the fresh strawberries and zippy citrus custard. Use a bar zester to create beautiful orange zest curls for the garnish.
