Blueberry Almond Overnight Oats
We're always on the hunt for delicious breakfast options that make our mornings easier.
Overnight oats are a versatile, delicious and easy way to give you a head start on your day. They let you prepare a nourishing part of your breakfast the night before, and their grab-and-go format makes overnight oats a perfect complement to a breakfast loaf, muffin or piece of fruit in the morning.
The method for this recipe couldn't be simpler: mix ingredients in your container and leave them in the fridge overnight. For the best tasting oats, you'll want to leave them in the fridge for a full eight hours, but if you only have a few hours, it will still give the oats enough time to absorb all the flavour of your ingredients.
Easy to portion and customize, everyone in the house can make their own jar or container of overnight oats with their favourite toppings. Additions to overnight oats leave endless room for variation. Here are just a few ways to add some personality to your overnight oat creations:
Added crunch
The recipe below uses Quaker® One Minute Oats, though those looking for creamier results should try a smaller grain like Quaker® Quick Oats. Or, if you're looking for more texture, Large Flake Quaker® Oats will give you that extra bite. Consider adding a tablespoon of chia, flax or sunflower seeds for even more crunch.
Liquid goodness
The liquid portion of the recipe is ripe for experimentation, as well. For a thicker, creamier texture to your oats, try substituting milk for yogurt. The unsweetened almond milk in this recipe adds a nutty flavour, while coconut milk gives a brighter profile.
Custom flavours
The more you make overnight oats, the more tricks and subtle preferences you'll discover. Mix in two tablespoons of your favourite nut butter for some more protein. Rather than use fresh fruit, try frozen – as it thaws overnight, it will release juices and infuse the oats with flavour. For extra sweetness, use natural fruit juice as part of your milk substitute.
Regardless of the mixture you settle on, you'll know you've got part of your morning covered. If you're ready to set yourself up for morning success, check out the recipe for Blueberry Almond Overnight Oats below.
