Method
In mixing glass or measuring cup, combine whiskey, Pomegranate Syrup, vanilla liqueur and bitters. Quickly stir in ice cubes (do not dilute too much). Pour into rocks or lowball glass. Garnish with orange zest and cherry, if desired.
Pomegranate Syrup In small saucepan, combine 1 cup each granulated sugar and pomegranate juice. Bring to boil, stirring often, until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool. (Make-ahead: Can be stored in airtight container and refrigerated for up to 1 month.)
Pomegranate Syrup brings a beautiful ruby colour and bold flavour to fruit salads.
